Wexford FC 0 Carlow Kilkenny FC 0
This was a competitively contested game in Ferrycarrig Park with both teams working hard.

Both sides started nervously but Carlow Kilkenny settled the quickest, starting to string passes together and take control of the game. Eamon Lalor was finding a lot of space in midfield and Oscar Brennan and Rory O Dowd were starting to look very dangerous going forward. Carlow Kilkenny very nearly took the lead with an excellent team move resulting in O Dowd just narrowly missing wide of the target. Moments later Mark McCarthy made a great save down low to his right from a good long range effort from Wexford’s number 10. On 32 mins, O Dowd again narrowly headed wide from a superb Brennan cross. The half finished scoreless with Carlow Kilkenny shading it.

Wexford changed shape at half time and started the second half a lot brighter. It was a very even half with minimum chances from both sides. Brennan had the best chance for Carlow Kilkenny from a free kick that he just hit slightly wide. McCarthy in the goal was alert in the goal again for Wexford’s chance. Both defences remained determined to keep their clean sheet and the game finished 0-0. Both teams have now recorded their first point of the league and will give them great confidence going forward.
